The Entertation Index: October 29

October 29, 2009

Agassi, Andre – The retired tennis star serves up some shocking revelations in his upcoming book Open.  Apparently, he used meth in 1997, then lied about it outright when he failed a drug test.  Officials should have become suspicious much earlier when he began scrubbing the court at The French Open with a toothbrush and ran up and down the stadium steps frantically during side changes.

David, Larry – The brains behind the intensely irreverent Curb Your Enthusiasm drew sharp criticism from Bill Donohue, President of the Catholic League, for showing urine on a picture of Jesus in a recent episode.  He asked, “Was Larry David always this crude? Would he think it comedic if someone urinated on a picture of his mother?”  With Larry David, yes, he probably would.

Gosselin, Kate – The now ex-star of TLC’s Jon and Kate Plus Eight is considering returning to nursing.  Soon she could be dealing with people involved in actual train wrecks.

Lambert, Adam – The American Idol fan favorite recently released the cover to his new album, and it has evoked some strong reactions.  Lambert says it is meant to be cheesy and ridiculous.  Given that it looks like an airbrushed mirror given as a ring-toss prize at a county fair, I’d say mission accomplished.

Paisley, BradPeople magazine reveals that the country music star has a handmade whiskey-barrel sink in his 6500-sq-ft Tennessee home.  Big deal, Brad.  I have a couch made out of PBR cans and pizza boxes stuffed with old insulation.  Call me when your whiskey-barrel sink dispenses actual whiskey.

Shakira – The Colombian singer tells Rolling Stone that her “body feels like it is asking to reproduce.”  Shakira, darling, must we always play this game?  You only have to ask.  The email address is on the website, and you have my number.

U2 – The Irish super-group will play a free concert on Nov. 5 as part of the MTV Europe Music Awards to commemorate the fall of the Berlin Wall.  To make it worth the price of zero Euros, U2 will play songs from only Pop and October.

I’m the only person on the face of the planet who thinks that October and Pop are good records. A bit inconsistent, but pretty solid none the less. I wish I had an irreverent comment to add here, but alas I do not. Sorry if I let you down.
