The Entertation Index: July 29

July 29, 2009

Ads, Beauty – Gawker’s got a great collection of beauty ads from the 1960s and 1970s.  I’d like to think society’s progressed a little, but it seems the only advances we’ve made have been in set lighting.

Control, Crowd – The new multi-target Taser X3 would have worked well on the muggles lining up for the new Harry Potter movie premiere, so security is expected to stock up for New Moon‘s first night.  Taser X3: when you absolutely, positively gotta Tase every mother*cker on the red carpet.

Diamond, Mike – Michael Jackson’s hair is being made into an exclusive set of diamonds by a company called LifeGem.  Recovered from MJ after the Pepsi commercial accident, the hair has passed through a few hands before arriving at its odd destination.  The diamonds are expected to start out blue, then slowly turn white.

Gaga, Lady – She alone could support the Entertation Index for months:  Lady Gaga appeared on German TV last week wearing a top made entirely of Kermit The Frogs (Kermits The Frog?).  She topped off her interview with a rendition of “It’s Not Easy Being Batsh*t Insane”.

Posse, Insane Clown – Are you a real juggalo or juggalette?  No?  Well you’ll still “enjoy” this infomercial for the Tenth Annual Gathering of the Juggalos (NSFW, mostly for language).  You’ll need to check out Hog Daddy’s Giant Hellfire of Death and put up $350 to get into the Big Baller Campsite to chill with—Ice Cube and Scarface?  Are you serious?

Suleman, Nadya – The woman known as “Octomom”, which sounds like Lifetime’s shot at a James Bond movie, has signed a reality TV contract that will allow her kids to earn in sum about $250,000 over three years.  This is expected to cover almost all of the children’s therapy cost over that same time span.

Zombie Flicks, British – The low-budget (less than $100!) zombie film Colin, told from the undead point-of-view, has generated lots excitement at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.  Since it doesn’t have a zillion-dollar marketing budget and big-time distributor, it’ll probably languish in NYC, LA, and Chicago.  Someone please tell us if it comes anywhere near central Kentucky.

The Juggalo festival looks simply, well, I actually don’t have words for it. Also, the regarding the YT vid, does it get any better than a valley girl trying to play the hardcore rap fan?

I, too, had to watch the Juggalo video, further proving my theory that morbid curiosity is one of the most powerful forces on earth.

Nothing like thousands of guys getting in touch with their inner middle schooler.
