Cameron, James — The BBC reports that the acclaimed Avatar director, during a recent convention in Beverly Hills, let it slide that “glasses-free” 3-D is how we will someday watch all our media, and that it’s likely only “8 to 10 years away.” This means one of two things: either James Cameron currently only sees things in two dimensions, or he knows something about future robot eyeball technology that he’s not telling us because we’re just not ready to hear it yet.

After 93 years, things get a little saggy.

Modigliani, Amedo — The 1917 Amedo Modigliani painting “Nude Sitting on a Sofa” was the star of a Tuesday’s Sotheby’s auction when the portrait, which was only expected to sell for $40 million, instead was purchased by an anonymous telphone bidder for the sum of $68.9 million. When asked how he felt about purchasing the piece, the caller responded “Oh, there you are.  I’ve been shouting for a half hour. Is this Imperial China Take-Out?”

Rose, Derrick — Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose skipped out on a cameo gig at the last second for CBS’ The Good Wife when he didn’t even come out of his house when the network sent a car to pick him up and take him to set. “I can’t believe it,” said a source close to the production. “I would have never expected this kind of irresponsible behavior from an NBA basketball player.”

Stars, Skating with the — ABC has announced its cast for the upcoming competition Skating with the Stars, which will include Real Housewife Bethenny Frankel, Motley Crüe frontman Vince Neill, “actor/rapper” Brandon Mychal Smith and Blade Runner’s Sean Young (look, I’m not saying Sean Young isn’t a star, but if you’re still being introduced as “Blade Runner’s Sean Young,” you can’t be that busy). So you can watch these people try to skate for six weeks, or for twenty-seven dollars total they will all show up to your next birthday party.

Sutherland, Kiefer — TV-action star Kiefer Sutherland has joined the Broadway cast of playwright Jason Miller’s Pulizer Prize-winning That Championship Season, which focuses on four men who come home for a reunion with their high school basketball coach. Sutherland will play the role of James Daley, who ties the basketball coach to a chair, fires a warning shot into his leg to get him talking, and then wraps plastic around the coach’s head until he gives up the missile codes.
