TBTS Music: Best of 2010 and thoughts on the year to come 2011

December 25, 2010

As many of you may have noticed, 2010’s cup was not chock full o’ hits. That being said, there were still some great records. Here’s my Top Ten;

1) Deftones – Diamond Eyes

2) Thunderball – 12 Mile High

3) Lionel Loueke – Mwaliko

4) Deadmau5 – 4×4=12

5) Sarah Harmer – Oh Little Fire

6) Bobby McFerrinVOCAbuLarieS

7) The Dead Weather – Sea Of Cowards

8) The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger – Acoustic Sessions

9) Daft Punk Tron: Legacy, Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

10) Lissie – Catching A Tiger

Honorable Mention: Robert Randolph  & The Family BandWe Walk This Road

2011 already looks like it will be bringing a big basket of treats to feed our hungry ears. Releases are expected from; Fiona Apple, Battles, Beastie Boys, Cowboy Junkies, The Duke Spirit, Explosions in the Sky, Fleet Foxes, Flyleaf, Green Day, Gym Class Heroes, Ben Harper and Relentless7, The Mars Volta, My Morning Jacket, Over the Rhine, Plaid, Primus, Radiohead, The Rat Pack, Rush, Santigold, The Strokes, The Ting Tings, U2, and The Veronicas. Are you kidding me? Man, I’m going to have a lot of work to do.

Rife with challenges, The Year of the Tiger will be remembered more as a struggle than a success in many ways. But our struggles are what define us, and believe you me, I have become very defined over the last twelve months. The Rabbit is on his way, so hopefully luck will be a lady and follow closely behind. Wishing all of you a happy and healthy new year!
